“Do you have enough money for a bus ticket?”

Kyle stopped his intense study of Duncan’s board-hard chest to nod. “I help out with the bulls at the different events and get paid for that, plus my mom makes sure I have money if I need it.”

“Good.”

He tilted his head, trying to make sense of Duncan’s 64

expression. “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing’s wrong,” Duncan commented quickly.

“Right. I’m not blind or deaf, Duncan. I can see something’s troubling you.” He rolled over to pin Duncan’s shoulders to the mattress. “Tell me.”

“Am I that easy to read?” Duncan seemed bothered by that.

Kyle shrugged. “Not really. I’m just getting better at interpreting your expressions.”

Sighing, Duncan caressed Kyle’s cheek. “I don’t want you to go.”

“Seriously?”

For some reason, the thought Duncan would miss him surprised Kyle. Maybe it was because they hadn’t been together for very long. They had only met a little over a week ago. Did it make him a slut to fall right into bed with Duncan instead of getting to know the man first?

He jerked when Duncan pinched his ass. “What was that for?”

“You went somewhere for a second. Yes, I’m serious about not wanting you to go. We only really met a week ago and I’d like to have more time to get to know you better, not just in bed, but on dates and things like that.”

“We were going to have to part in another week or so anyway.”

There was one more event before the mid-season break when Kyle usually headed home to visit his mom. His father and Rusty went elsewhere, and Kyle considered their absence a relief.

“Yeah. I have to head back to Idaho to visit Pops and deliver the bulls back to the ranch. I’d like you to see it some time.”

Hesitating for a moment, he finally asked, “Maybe during the winter?” Duncan met his gaze with fierce eyes. “I’d love to have to you come visit. We could take sleigh rides, and you can see how 65

beautiful Idaho is covered in snow.”

“I’d like that. Does your grandfather know you’re gay?”

Duncan’s eyes darted away from him and the man grimaced.

“Yes, he does, but he chooses to ignore that fact. We talk about everything except my private life, though every once in a while, he asks me if I’ve found the right one yet.”

He leaned down and nuzzled Duncan’s chin. “Doesn’t sound very fun or loving.”

“It works for us,” Duncan muttered, his hands clenching at Kyle’s hips.

“Until you bring a guy home and he’s forced to face the truth.”

Duncan lifted his chin, giving Kyle access to more skin. “True, but we’ll deal with it when it happens. I can’t kick him out and I’m not willing to live my life to make him comfortable. It’s not like I rub his face in my sexual preferences or hang rainbow flags off the front porch.”

Kyle licked along Duncan to where his pulse beat in the triangle of soft skin at the base of his neck. “But you’ve never brought
